In the eye of the Storm

Updated: Jun 20, 2020

The first dream I ever received as a message from God was when I was a teen ager: I was standing on the raised edge of a large sports field. It was apocalyptic. The sky was black and full of clouds, lit up by blue lightning. People were running in panic, looking for somewhere to hide. In the midst of the chaos, I was standing there with my eyes closed, smiling, in complete peace, holding up my hand to heaven, waiting to receive something. When something was put into my hand, I opened my eyes to look at it. It was just a stone. I threw it down, but was not at all bothered by it - still smiling, and still at peace, I closed my eyes again, held my hand up to heaven again, and said, "no, that's not what I asked for." Years later, when my life was in chaos and I felt hopeless, that dream came back to mind, along with the verse "be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer." (Romans 12v12). Acting on the dream, and the verse, changed the course of events. And I believe that dream is still speaking, beyond that single event, into the times we currently face. We must close our eyes to the chaos and keep our minds seated in heavenly places, from where comes the peace of God.
